San Martino Vignale, the property that contains both Timo and Pesco, is quite popular. This large farmhouse with fabulous views is owned and renovated by a young (and rather attractive) woman with an eye for harmony beyond her years. Walking through the many rooms among its two floors we were smitten with love and envy for something done with such vision.
There are two floors to the property of San Martino Vignale. Timo is located below and Pesco is located above - both with their own entrance and no interior connection.
Timo is on the ground floor of this ancient farmhouse, therefore it has the interior detail of a wine cellar similar to other period houses of Tuscany. Thick walls of stone and brick, and warm wood details, furnishings and more.

The Details:
Ground Floor: Two bedrooms, one full bath with shower and a living room/dining room / kitchen. An enormous vaulted living room/dining room and kitchen with ceilings that arch some 5 meters above the tallest Italian head. A number of tall shuttered windows let in copious morning light, comfortable sofas and chairs arranged around a fireplace and a fabulous kitchen on one end of the room provide counter space and Italian ceramics. The rooms are painted in two subtle tones. Antiques, original modern art and contemporary furnishings put this house in order. A long hallway leads to two twin bedrooms and one full bathroom with shower. Very cool bathroom. Bedroom furniture includes a simple pine armoire, marble top antique dressers and comfortable antique framed beds. They are twins and are easily converted to a double for those inseparable couples.

The owner is a very good chef- ( a former restaurant owner ) and , upon request, he can prepare very good dinners , welcome dinners on Saturday arrival night- and on any other day with typical Tuscan recipes (with the organic olive oil and wine produced in the estate) price 30 € per person a minimum 4 people. The dinner is prepared in advance, to be warmed up.
*Reservations are always Saturday to Saturday, except for the lowest season when it is flexible. Rates are current and based on when the majority of the week is within the price range stated above. All of our rentals include linens and towels. One set per reservation unless otherwise stated. Request for change/cleaning may incur a charge.

Although we are biased on such matters, and may be preaching to the choir, Lucca is arguably the best city in Tuscany. It is also the closest to most of our Lucca based rentals. There are loads of reasons this is a great place to visit (olive oil for example, lack of tourists another). To the benefit of you and the proud locals, Lucca has completely retained the original thick walls around the centro storico. As the wide walls lost their military importance, abruptly ended with the conquering Bonaparte in 1805, no match for his modern might, they became as they are today: a pedestrian only park that rings the city entirely providing a wonderful view of the countryside and city below. Lucca is a perfect place to spend a day, or when you have a little extra time between other touring, you can easily slug it in and never tire of its streets, alleys, sights and shops. It is a perfect place to walk around, the walls not withstanding (in fact for the walls we suggest renting a bike and seeing the city that way - on the walls and off). We fondly call it "Florence without the scooters, people or museums." But still enough great restaurants, piazze, cafes, gelati and upscale shopping to attract the discerning folk.
