Louisa is a wonderful lady.
We had a great time at La Chiusa.

Extremely well furnished and appointed. Large rooms (and many of them) made this a delight.
Great location as it is close to the major super market (Carr Foure) and Lucca. The borgo for other things.
Does not have views.
Luisa is simply the best.
Had the time of our life there. We don't know when we will get back to Italy, but we will never leave La Chiusa - that's fer sure.

-- Dick, NH, 2004
Over the many years there are simply none better than Luisa and her home. She is your door into the Tuscan life. From a Lucca family centuries back, she is the embodiment of everything good and decent in life. Her house is but an extension of this knowledge. You are lucky to have found this place.

Just east and north of Pisa through the mountain is the intriguing walled city of Lucca. The walls are the most substantial of all of Italy. Where most walled cities erected high and thin walls some 1 - 2 meters thick, Lucca created a massive moat and walls of some 20 meters thick. Large enough that it now serves as a wonderful promenade for the village people. This is a must - be in Lucca at the time of the "passeggiata" 5:00 - 7:00pm. The town strolls leisurely around the city on top of the wall and along the historic street that encircles the oval piazza anfiteatro, once the location of an oval Roman amphitheater. Julius Ceaser is said to have walked this passeggiata in 85 BC. "Passeggiate" is a delightful Italian custom. All towns and villages have one and allow the informed traveler, to rub elbows with the locals.
Touring Ideas:
Lucca 2 km The A11 (4 km) Siena 1.5 hours Cinque Terre (40 minutes to the La Spezia boats) Forte dei Marmi (30 minutes) Montecatini (20 minutes) Carre Foure for all of your shopping is less than 1 km away.
