Villa Lupo

One Of Those Classic Villas Of The Nobile Era

Ahhh...The Noble Life! Villa Lupa is one of those amazing Lucca villas. Located in the countryside, far from the hussle of life, you, your friends and family can sit by the pool, drink some wine, eat some meals (made by you or someone else...), talk about art or other important things and let a dreamy week unfold. If it’s the rich history of the region, a brush with how the nobles get on in life, then Villa Lupa is your next stop in Tuscany.
The villa is dressed as one might expect - with comfortable and stylish furnishings, antiques, noble decorations, frescoes and generally upscale furnishings. I think our favorite spot with this house is the al fresco with views of the countryside and close proximity to the pool. Baby!

Perfect for: Family and friends.

What Guests Have To Say

Just a lovely, baronial place - quite grand and fun. Kept us in shape travelling up and down the staircases! Very well equipped kitchen and a charming pool/eating area.
Extraordinary site, views, top of hillside, olive trees, grape arbors, Tuscan terrain and fabulous wine. Who could ask for more?
The owners, Duccio Raffaeli and family, were staying next door for most of our week. They were immediately there if we needed help. Gracious and smart and professional.

A Little on the Region
Ponte a Moriano is a decent sized village with a round up of your usual suspects - grocery shops, large supermarket, bars, pizzeria, restaurant, pastry shops, ice cream maker, bank, pharmacy and post office. What more could you want, I ask you? Just east and north of Pisa through the mountain is the intriguing walled city of Lucca. The walls are the most substantial of all of Italy. Where most walled cities erected high and thin walls some 1 - 2 meters thick, Lucca created a massive moat and walls of some 20 meters thick. Large enough that it now serves as a wonderful promenade for the village people. This is a must - be in Lucca at the time of the "passeggiata" 5:00 - 7:00pm. The town strolls leisurely around the city on top of the wall and along the historic street that encircles the oval piazza anfiteatro, once the location of an oval Roman amphitheater. Julius Ceaser is said to have walked this passeggiata in 85 BC. "Passeggiate" is a delightful Italian custom. All towns and villages have one and allow the informed traveler, to rub elbows with the locals.
